Shooting 50m Targets

sniperBoiled down to it, I really get paid for just a few hours work each week.  The rest of the time? I’m watching, listening, waiting… and getting a lot of personal work done too.  How I’ve done this can be applied to almost any profession, and most entrepreneurs have realized this too.

Take care of your 50m targets before aiming at your 300m targets.

It’s an old saying I picked up from my time in the military.  Tell this to any soldier, sailor, or marine and they will understand what you’re doing.  During combat, the most imminent danger is usually the danger that’s closest.  Are you having to fight hand-to-hand, or can you aim your weapon and pick off targets at a distance?

Getting away from the context of war and combat, the saying is still applicable to our daily lives.  What’s most present in your situation or environment that needs attention or a focus of your Energy?  Are these the little things that have added up to a calamity that’s now become a “Big” thing to deal with?

When shifting your Energy and your perspective what most people find is that there still exists some of the left over “turbulence” from what we’ve already created and are existing in.  These could be habits or addictions that are no longer needed, people in our environment that are no longer conducive nor congruent to our current resonance, or, doors in need of closure before another is opened.  It is often these causes that are a major contributor to a persons failure to maintain the momentum they’ve achieved by shifting their Energy to allow a goal or desire to be created or manifested.

The 300m target is your intention, your clearly stated goal, your “Want”.

“What’s getting in the way?”, and, “Why can’t I manifest or create?” or questions best answered by taking a look at your 50m targets.

By simply asking “What Actions must I begin or stop to align myself with my goal” you’ll provide yourself with a path of least resistance to your Goal.

So, how do I get paid large amounts of money for a few hours work?  What’s my personal example of this modality?  I shoot my 50m targets first.  I study and read to ensure that when I do work for a few hours I’m the most knowledgeable on the subject matter at hand.  If laws or regulations are involved, I study them to see what type of leeway and allowances can be made.  I know who the decision makers are beforehand, so I’m not dealing with someone incapable of deciding.  I speak to and with various individuals involved in the project, or on the fringes of the project to better assess the players and the playing field.  I gauge my particular chances of success as applicable to the project at hand.  Finally, when I do “work”, I deal with a handful of individuals and it’s relatively easy to bring them into agreement because I already know what their objections are, the reason they may object, and what counter arguments and persuasive examples I can offer as examples to facilitate my end result, a signed and official, legally binding document; which is my 300m target.  Now, for those interested- my 500m target- my long range goal, has always been to work a little while earning a lot.  Tackle your 50m targets and you can scope out your 300m targets, which gives you a lot of room to clearly see your 500m targets.

Need more examples or advice at how you can shoot your own 50m targets? Drop me a line…

I know you can change how you need to, if you need to.

Happy Shooting!

    Great Post!
Here are my tips about shooting ANY targets:
1.) The two most important rules in a gunfight are: always cheat and always win.
2.) Don’t forget, incoming fire has the right of way.
3.) If you’re not shootin’, you should be loadin’. If you’re not loadin’, you should be movin’, if you’re not movin’, someone’s gonna cut your head off and put it on a stick.
4.) Do something. It may be wrong, but do something.
5.) Shoot what’s available, as long as it’s available, until something else becomes available.
6.) Don’t shoot fast, shoot good.
7.) You can say ’stop’ or ‘halt’ or use any other word you think will work, but I’ve found that a large bore muzzle pointed at someone’s head is pretty much the universal language.
8.) You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it.
9.) The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

Again- thanks for the wise words.. I’ll be making similar analogies in the weapons courses I teach.

But youre really doing all the work regardless of how you perceive it, arent you?

    • J.Henry says:

It just comes down to perceptions. The “real” work I was speaking of, just a few hours at most a week, is to me, THE REAL WORK. It’s a confluence and convergence of all the previous “work” and “research” I did combined with my single goal of having all participants sign on the dotted line of the paperwork I offer. It’s knowing what objections may be raised, what questions of policy and legality may be raised, and answering them before the real work even begins. If I don’t shoot my 50m targets, my offer during the real work will get shot down. As I travel about 90% of the time, I’m constantly exposed to different people, different offices, and different policies- shooting 50m targets can be done whenever and wherever. If I meet someone I may have to deal with in the near or long term, I talk with them to see what they are like, what their interests are, who their chain of command is, where they’ve been, etc. It’s all information that comes in handy when I have to deal with them again. That’s a 50m target. Additionally, these people may be able to give me insight and information to the command structure I may have to deal with… that’s another 50m target. When I need research done, I have office assistants, secretaries, and other offices I can check with or call to do some investigation for me. Another 50m target. Get the hint yet? If you choose to see this as “work”, then you may be clouding your vision for your targets that are further out. Get that hint?

So based on your reply to Jamie, it’s more about time management and organization? Or is it about being selfish and just doggedly pursuing your own agenda?
