Is everything random or are events predestined? Such a question has been asked many times, and each time a unique answer is provided. It’s one; It’s the other; It’s both; It’s this if; It’s that if; It’s both if….

The answer may not even really matter. Let’s let the Philosophers and Mathmagicians worry about the Theory of it all.

Being completely responsible for the environment one creates intones that nothing can come into ones existence unless it has been specifically (whether by conscious creation or creation by default) drawn to oneself.
The tiniest event or situation, the minutiae of our daily grind- a piece of paper blown across a parking lot seen while in a car, a random individual in front of you in a grocery line, the chorus of a song you caught somewhere, anything. Anything that comes to your life and experience… the person that gave you a cold or infection, the car that accidentally hits yours… all of these “random” events are the ultimate responsibility of the individual.

OK, you didn’t choose to have the car hit you, but you did choose to drive down the road where you were hit. You didn’t choose to be cheated of a handful of change given by a negligent cashier, but you did choose to go that particular store. You didn’t choose to be the “victim” of a random act of violence, but you did choose to be in the right place and right time (or wrong place and wrong time) to experience that act.

Many would say that these “random” events are unavoidable, that because they are “bad” or “negative” we couldn’t have possibly drawn them to ourselves.  That’s typical though, right?  Maybe those that feel more comfortable feeling this, feeling that anything “negative” that occurs can only be blamed on random-ness.  Or Chaos.  Or Bad Luck.  And you know what?  It’s perfectly fine to feel that way. We can feel however we choose to feel.

When you do not take credit and responsibility  for the negative in your life, then who is responsible for the “positive” feelings and experiences you have?

With what criteria do we disallow the experience as “not of us”? With what criteria do we allow the experience as “of us”?  If we are not creating all that we experience, then what is it exactly that we ARE creating? Who or Whom is foiling our Mater Plans and preventing us from achieving our own personal desires and wishes?

We should shift our perception, not only for the obvious benefits of consciously creating, but to depart from a reality where we allow random and negative things to occur to us and through us.

Not allowing ourselves the responsibility of our own feelings, experiences, and realities  could imply that we only want to experience random events in our lives, that we do not choose to be fully in control.  Anything “good” is the result of “something” I did;  anything “bad” is the fault of someone else.   Children start their lives with this level of logic.  I’m not implying here that any one holding such thoughts and beliefs is childish, by no means. Perhaps they are content and happy in doing so, that it allows them a happiness they want to experience, and that is ok. We all have the right to live how we choose.

By accepting the minutiae in our lives as divine,  as coming from Source and Spirit, coming from ourselves, we allow ourselves the opportunity to focus on what exactly is in our existence with the firm belief that what surrounds us is adequate and proper.  It allows answers and emotions to the thoughts and questions we are projecting into the universe, consciously or subconsciously.  Yes, we are either creating consciously or creating by default- living life with the cruise control on.  If we accept that anything in our reality is our own personal responsibility then we can allow answers to thoughts and prayers to arrive often before we even consciously think of questions or offer prayers.

Maybe that random person that we encountered said exactly what was needed in order to stir a thought or provoke an emotion that allowed the existence of something else to occur, or to prod us to a certain action. Maybe that song that reminds us of a long missed loved one can stir emotions of love and happiness in our existence.

Would we rather have the minutiae bring us to divine, to the Spirit, to our emotions, or do we need to be broadsided by a personal cataclysmic event that causes stress, chaos, and disorder to do it? Does spirit need only whisper to you, or do you need it to yell and scream in a thunderous, earth shattering event?

It is what you make it. It is what is made. Divine will find us one way or another in a direct proportion to how we are finding it. We live in a created world, all is divine, all is good, all is perfect, and anything can, and does, lead us back to Source.

Dave Watson, a good friend of mine who is a Master Reiki practitioner has created a series of CD’s that effectively transmute the power of a Reiki healing session into audible sounds. It allows you to reconnect with your own Spirit and Source. I’ve only recently began using it, but it’s powerful stuff!
